Problem, what happened?

Bought this used hot air soldering station and the start/stop button didn't commute properly. It would take multiple button presses for the hot air to start and stop.

How to fix it, solution

Take the metal hood off, desolder button and replace it with a new one.

Repair procedure
  1. Unscrew all cruciform screws on the two sides of the station
  2. Take metal hood off
  3. Unscrew button, there's a plastic washer on the inside
  4. Take the button out and unsolder his wires
  5. Solder wires back to the new button, make sure that you don't forget to put his washer on the wires before soldering (if the washer screws in from the inside)
  6. Put new button in place and secure it with it's washer
  7. Put the hood back and secure it with it's cruciform screws


Evaluation of the repair

I am a bit disappointed by the quality of the original button, but the rest of the station is very well built. It works like a charm since i've repaired it!
